Hoot Tales

The Ant and the Dove

An ant went down to a stream for a drink of water and accidentally fell in. The current swept her along, and she was about to drown.

A dove perched on a nearby branch saw what happened. She quickly plucked a leaf and dropped it into the water. The ant climbed onto it and floated safely to shore.

The ant was deeply grateful and thanked the dove warmly. From that day on, the two became close friends.

Not long after, a hunter came with a net, hoping to catch the dove in the very same tree. He was just about to throw the net over her.

The ant saw what was happening and quickly crawled up to bite the hunter's foot. He cried out in pain and dropped the net, and the dove flew away to safety just in time. The two friends had saved each other's lives, and they remained the best of friends forever after.

Even a small kindness we give to others may one day come back to help us. No matter how small or big, everyone can help one another.
