The Wolf and the Deer on a Snowy Night

One night, a fierce snowstorm raged across the forest. A hungry wolf prowled through the driving snow in search of food, until he spotted a young deer, separated from its herd, standing alone and trembling in the storm.

The wolf slowly cornered the young deer, ready to pounce. But at that very moment, the snowstorm around them grew even more violent, until the world nearly vanished into white.

The wolf suddenly realized that if they didn't find shelter right away, they would both freeze or get lost in the storm. Trembling with cold and fear, the young deer begged the wolf to work together to survive the night first — everything else could wait until morning.

The wolf agreed to a temporary truce. Together they pushed through the snow until they found a small cave beneath a rocky outcrop. They huddled close together, sharing their warmth, and waited for the storm to pass.

When morning came, the storm had settled and the sky was clear. Having survived the terrible night together, the wolf let the young deer go free to find its herd — for that night, both of them had learned that kindness and cooperation mattered more than hunger or fear.

Sometimes kindness and cooperation matter more than our own fear or hunger.
