In a small village lived a boy named Ton who loved music dearly, but he was so shy he never dared play in front of anyone. Every time the village held a festival, he would watch quietly from a distance, hiding behind the crowd.
One day, while walking in the forest near his home, Ton found an old brown drum resting beneath a large tree. When he tapped it gently, its rich sound rang out so beautifully that birds in the trees began singing along.
Ton secretly believed the drum was magic, because every time he played it, he felt strangely braver. So he practiced alone in the forest every day where no one could see, and his rhythm grew more and more beautiful.
On the day of the annual festival, the village's usual drummer suddenly fell ill and no one could lead the procession. Ton hesitated for a moment, then stepped forward with his old drum, volunteering even though his hands were shaking.
The moment Ton began to play, its rich sound rang out across the whole village. Everyone clapped and danced joyfully to the rhythm. Ton realized that the real magic hadn't been in the old drum at all — it had been the courage he'd found within himself.
Sometimes real magic isn't in the object itself, but in the courage we discover within ourselves.
A shy boy who's afraid to perform music in front of others finds an ordinary-looking old drum that helps him discover his own rhythm and confidence.
