The Boy and the Broken Music Box
⏱ 4–6 min
In a beehive nestled in a beautiful flower meadow lived a little worker bee named Binbin, who was determined to collect more nectar than any other bee in the hive. Every morning, she was the first to fly out and always the last to return.
Binbin flew from flower to flower without ever stopping to rest. Even when her friends paused to enjoy nectar in the shade of a leaf, Binbin kept flying on and on. She believed the harder she worked, the better and more helpful she would be to the hive.
After many days without a single rest, Binbin began to fly unsteadily, her wings tired and heavy. One day she bumped into a flower petal and spilled all the nectar she had collected. Another day, she briefly forgot the way back to the hive. The harder she worked, the more mistakes she made, and she felt sad without understanding why.
The hive's wise elder, Grandma Goldwing, noticed how tired Binbin looked and gently flew over to land beside her. "You know, our hive is strongest when every bee, including you, gets to rest and enjoy the flowers too — not just work all the time," she said. "Resting isn't laziness. It's actually what helps us fly even better."
Binbin listened and decided to try resting. She sat on a soft flower petal, breathed in the sweet scent, and happily watched butterflies flutter by. After resting a while, she felt strong and cheerful again, flying just as well as before. She still collected plenty of nectar, but now she did it happily, without ever feeling worn out.
Resting isn't laziness — it's an important part of what helps us do our best and stay happy for a long time.
A young worker bee is determined to collect more nectar than anyone else in the hive and refuses to rest, until exhaustion leads to mistakes — and a wise older bee teaches her that resting matters just as much as working.
