The Mouse and the Little Umbrella

One drizzly day, a little mouse was walking along when he spotted a tiny, brightly colored umbrella lying under a bush, just his size.

The mouse was thrilled. He walked around happily, staying dry under his own little umbrella, while his friends — a little bird, a frog, and a beetle — all got soaked in the rain. It never occurred to him to share.

When he saw his friends shivering with cold, the mouse began to realize that staying dry all alone wasn't as much fun as he'd thought. He started to feel lonely and uneasy.

So the mouse decided to take turns holding the umbrella over each friend, one at a time. The bird, the frog, and the beetle all walked home together, warm and dry beneath the one little umbrella.

At last, everyone arrived at shelter dry and laughing together. The mouse learned that sharing made the rainy day far more fun than keeping the umbrella all to himself ever could.

Sharing makes happiness grow bigger than keeping it all to yourself.
